Popular clergyman, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, has cautioned the Federal government over its plans to go after IPOB members. In a post shared on his IG page this morning, Suleiman wondered why the FG plans to go after IPOB members whilst leaving Killer herdsmen. His post reads

Yet you cant go after killer herdsmen?

IPOB seeks to pull out of a part of Nigeria

Killer herdsmen destroys the whole Nigeria.

Who should be dealt with urgently?

Lai Mohammed to lead FG’s discussion with Twitter over suspension

President Buhari has approved the composition of the Federal Government’s team to engage with Twitter over the recent suspension of the operations of the microblogging and social networking service in Nigeria.

 

The approval was announced in a statement released by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who will chair the team.

 

The Federal Government’s team also comprises the Attorney General of the Federation and Honourable Minister of Justice, Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment as well as other relevant government agencies.

 

Following the indefinite suspension of its operations in Nigeria for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence, Twitter wrote to President Buhari seeking to engage with the Federal Government over the suspension, with a view to charting a path forward.

Bribery: Court sentences ex-federal lawmaker, Lawan to seven years in jail

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Apo has convicted a former member of the House of Representtives, Farouk Lawan, over $3 million bribery case and sentenced him to seven years for count 1, 7 years count 2, and 5 years for count 3 to run concurrently.

The court also ordered for restitution of the collected sum of $500,000.

The court gave its decision in the case brought before it by the Federal Government against Lawan, a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy in 2012.

While delivering the judgment, Justice Angela Ataluka, stated that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

In Suit No. FHC/HC/CR/76/2013, a $3 million bribery charge was filed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria against Farouk Lawan for asking for $3 million and obtaining the sum of $500,000 from Femi Otedola to remove his company from the list of indicted companies before the House of Reps Adhoc committee on fuel subsidy.
